Floating Hospital and Lawrence General Expand Pediatric Affiliation
New Hospitalist Program to Benefit Pediatric Patients and Pediatricians
LAWRENCE - Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center will begin providing hospital-based pediatricians to Lawrence General Hospital’s 20-bed Pediatric Unit, the two hospitals have announced. The presence of the pediatric hospitalists will ensure that a pediatric inpatient specialist is available at Lawrence General Hospital 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The hospitals plan to launch the service, an expansion of existing services that Floating Hospital provides to Lawrence General, in the fall. |

A Tufts Medical Center study of National Coverage Determinations made by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) shows that CMS is covering a number of treatments that do not appear to be cost-effective. By incorporating cost-effectiveness research in these major decisions, the agency could allocate its resources more efficiently, the study suggests. |
