Teaching Milestones

1932: Bingham Associates Program for training rural doctors established; serves as legislative inspiration for the Hill-Burton construction Act in 1946 as well as the regional medical program passed by Congress in 1967 (Boston Dispensary)
1979: The first graduate school of nutrition in the United States established (Tufts University School of Medicine)
1992: The first, full-service private teaching hospital created in Boston with addition of the maternity service (Tufts University School of Medicine)
