Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office
The Tufts Medical Center Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office monitors and provides support for activities within our medical education programs. The staff works to ensure that all of our trainees receive an education of the highest quality, and equitable treatment under the guidelines of the ACGME and Tufts Medical Center policies. In addition, the GME office serves as the credentialing office for all ACGME residents and fellows, working directly with the Board of Registration in Medicine for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the hospital’s Human Resources office.
In accordance with the ACGME regulations, Tufts Medical Center has an established Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC). The GME Committee has the responsibility for monitoring and advising on all aspects of residency education, and reports to Tufts Medical Center's Medical Executive Committee. Voting membership on the GME Committee includes peer nominated residents, program directors, other members of the faculty and hospital leadership and the designated institutional official.
Attendance and participation at the GMEC is strongly encouraged for faculty and residents interested in medical education. In addition, residents and fellows are expected to participate in the work of various hospital committees; this is an invaluable way to get involved in the hospital and its functions.
