FICA Claims

As of 7/15/2011, Tufts Medical Center has submitted to the IRS it’s Medical Resident FICA refund claims for the tax years 1996 through the 1st Qtr of 2005. No other tax years will have claims submitted.

The deadline for submitting a Consent Form has already passed and any new Consent Forms that are received at this time are considered late and cannot be included in the original refund claim package submitted to the IRS.  Although there is no plan to do so at this time, before the IRS completes processing the refund claims, there is a possibility that an amended refund claim package might be submitted to the IRS, if the IRS, in its sole discretion, permits late consenters to be included in the amended refund claims.

Once Tufts Medical Center hears back from the IRS on the status of our claims, (including any information on the actual refund process), we will contact those Residents included in the original claim with next steps. Please note that no further attempt will be made to contact residents whose late Consent Forms are on file unless an amended refund claim package is actually prepared at some point and the IRS also permits the late Consent Form in question to be reflected in the claims.
