Services Available

In order to facilitate access and orientation for patients, Interpreter Services provides:

Bilingual and bicultural clinical staff

A brochure in the primary languages of hospital patients that includes a translated map of the hospital, a statement concerning a patient’s right to an interpreter free of charge, and information regarding the importance of having a primary care provider

A patient-staff communication aid booklet that helps in the exchange of basic information without an interpreter or that can be useful while waiting for the arrival of an interpreter (available in English and ten other targeted languages)

Multi-lingual signage and written materials, such as menus, forms and patient instruction sheets

ASL interpreters and multi-lingual phone lines to provide additional access for non-English speaking, deaf and hard of hearing patients

A collection of health education material in the most frequently occurring languages of the hospital’s non–English speaking patient base: Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish and Russian.
