Patient Rights

The staff at Tufts Medical Center is committed to providing you with excellent medical care and delivering this care with respect for your individuality and dignity. We believe that effective patient care begins with the establishment of a partnership between the patient, his or her family and the staff at the Medical Center.

 

The following documents and regulations explain your rights and responsibilities while you are a patient at Tufts Medical Center.

 

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) describes how medical information about you may be used and disclosed and how you can get access to this information.  

 

 

A Patients’ Bill of Rights was signed into law in 1979 by the Massachusetts legislature. (Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 111, Section 70E). Copies of the Massachusetts Patients’ Bill of Rights are available in the Admitting Department on the first floor of the Proger Building.
