The following documents and regulations explain your rights and responsibilities while you are a patient at Tufts Medical Center. Please also use the links on the left to find more information about medical decision making, medical records and your rights and responsibilities as a patient.
HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) describes how medical information about you may be used and disclosed and how you can get access to this information.
A Patients’ Bill of Rights was signed into law in 1979 by the Massachusetts legislature. (Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 111, Section 70E). Copies of the Massachusetts Patients’ Bill of Rights are available in the Admitting Department on the first floor of the Proger Building.
