Dr. Lawrence S. Bacow will be honored with the Visionary Leadership Award. He has served as President of Tufts University since September 2001.  A lawyer and economist whose research focuses on environmental policy, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.  President Bacow is also a director of Tufts Medical Center , the Omidyar-Tufts Microfinance Fund, the Cummings Foundation, and Campus Compact.  He was educated at MIT (SB), Harvard Law School (JD), and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government (MPP and PhD).
