Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology provides comprehensive anesthesia services for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures throughout Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children, including the 15-room Floating Hospital Surgical Suite, the six-room Ambulatory Surgical Center, the Labor and Delivery Suite, the Preoperative Center and various locations throughout the hospital.
Our team includes experts in all major anesthesia subspecialities including cardiothracic anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, transplant and pediatric anesthesia. We also participate in all aspects of daily hospital life and influence almost every specialty directly or as consultants through our involvement in:
-
Preoperative evaluation and risk management
-
Postoperative and long-term critical care resuscitation throughout the facility
-
Acute, chronic and cancer pain management
-
Sedation in non-OR settings
-
Interdisciplinary research
In addition to training for residents and fellows, the Department of Anesthesiology also offers clerkships and an extensive program for the training of student nurse anesthetists.
