About Us

|
Established in 1950 by Dr. Benjamin Etsten, the Department of Anesthesiology maintains a prominent role within Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. The departmental mission contains a strong commitment to excellence in clinical care, postgraduate learning, and scholarly activities at all levels. The department directs all clinical activities of the Main Operating Room Suite, the Ambulatory Surgery Care Center, the Preoperative Assessment Clinic, and the Post-Anesthesia Care Units.
The faculty and chair of the Anesthesiology department are committed to provide safe and effective care for patients of all ages and all types of illness. We strive to teach residents in anesthesiology to become participating physicians in the perioperative care of surgical patients and experts in the treatment of pain and anxiety associated with acute and chronic illness.
