Clinical Program Overview

The Brain Tumor center and Neuro-Oncology Program offer the most advanced care for the treatment of brain tumors and cancer-related neurological disorders.

• Our neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuropathologist and oncology nurses diagnose and treat patients with a wide variety of benign and malignant tumors of the brain, skull base, and spinal cord. This multidisciplinary team, (Neuro-Oncology Tumor Board), meets weekly to discuss the progress and treatment plans for our patients.

• If you would like to get a virtual second opinion, arrange to send your images and medical records to us and we can provide a Tumor Board recommendation. Contact person: Beth Sloane, 617-636-2694. 
  
  
• Advanced surgical techniques, including computer-assisted neuro-navigation and “awake” brain mapping, are utilized to optimize patient outcomes. The most advanced radiotherapy technologies, including Gamma Knife radiosurgery , and Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) are utilized in concert with traditional radiation techniques.

• The Tufts Medical Center Brain Tumor Program is a founding member of the Brain Tumor Investigator Consortium (BTIC) and actively participates in many multi-institutional trials in order to bring our patients the most promising novel treatments not yet widely available.

• Ependymoma

• Glioblastoma
• Lymphoma
• Medulloblastoma

Clinical Trials

Our patients have access to novel therapies through participation in both Tufts Medical Center clinical trials and national clinical trials.
