Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center is a collaborative research partnership that unites the major clinical, population, and basic science cancer research efforts of Tufts Medical Center with the Schools and Colleges of Tufts University including the School of Medicine, Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, School of Dental Medicine, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, and Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. The Cancer Center provides the infrastructure to connect the considerable research efforts of 172 cancer-related scientists and clinicians and thus facilitate innovative research advances aimed at lessening the burden of cancer.
In addition to the extensive experience and expertise of its investigators in traditional cancer research, Tufts Medical Center Cancer Center also draws on its unique strengths to pursue less-conventional areas of inquiry, such as nutrition research. It is organized into five transdisciplinary and cross-institutional research programs supported by six inter-institutional core facilities, a structure which makes shared resources dedicated to enhancing scientific efficiency available to all Center members. The primary objective of the Cancer Center is to promote collaborations that will ultimately translate into significant progress in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
