MRI and CT Imaging Our CardioVascular Imaging Center at Tufts Medical Center in Boston offers state-of-the-art imaging of the cardiovascular system with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and Cardiac CT. Patients will undergo a comprehensive quantitative study using the most up-to-date MRI and CT scanner and software applications. A detailed report is generated and sent to each patient's referring physician.
Reproduced cardiac images are also available for referring physicians upon request. The cardiac MRI staff is also readily available to discuss results as well as clinical indications for studies.
Echocardiography
We utilize various modalities of cardiovascular ultrasound including:
The Hemodynamic Laboratory at Tufts Medical Center's CardioVascular Imaging Center is nationally known for its innovative approaches to cardiac diagnoses, providing major advances into the echocardiographic and Doppler assessment of myocardial, valvular, congenital, and ischemic heart disease. Our laboratory has a long tradition of commitment to teaching in cardiac ultrasound, and members of the laboratory faculty are involved with educational seminars throughout the world.
The lab provides expeditious scheduling for all state-of-the art services, including transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echo, and exercise and pharmacologic stress echo. The Lab has led the way in providing a unique array of advanced services, including three-dimensional cardiac imaging for special evaluation of cardiac function, valvular, and congenital heart disease; stress echocardiography for evaluation of ischemia, valvular disease, and cardiac hemodynamics; myocardial contrast imaging for evaluation of ischemic heart disease and cardiac function; and assessment of cardiac dyssynchrony in patients who are being evaluated for cardiac resynchronization therapy.
In addition to diagnostic services, cardiac ultrasound imaging is also employed in guiding various interventional and surgical procedures, such as alcohol septal ablation for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and ASD device closures. The laboratory has pioneered the development of many innovative ultrasound techniques and their clinical applications. The laboratory is also a well-recognized educational center.
