Dr. Pamela L. Scheinman is a graduate of Brandeis University, Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude, 1982 and received her MD degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, NY, 1986. She completed her dermatology residency at the University of Rochester, NY,1990 where she was chief resident, 1989-1990. Dr Scheinman joined the Dept of Dermatology at New England Medical Center in 1993 and established the Contact Dermatitis and Occupational Dermatology Unit.
Her experience within the American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS) includes currently serving on the Board of Directors and chairing the Nominating Committee (2006-2007) and Patch Test Issues committee (2007- present). She has served on the Clinical Research Studies Committee 1995 - 98, the Review Body for Resident Publications for the American Journal of Contact Dermatitis 1995 - 98, the Nominating committee for Board of Directors 1998 and as a judge for the Fisher Resident Awards, ACDS meeting, 2000.
Dr. Scheinman has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology1995 - 98 and maintains active memberships in the following organizations: American Contact Dermatitis Society, American Academy of Dermatology, Women’s Dermatologic Society, New England Dermatologic Society and Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Scheinman conducts a busy tertiary referral clinical practice consisting mainly of dermatitis patients. Her patients are referred from internists, allergists, dermatologists and occupational medicine specialists throughout the New England area.
Dr. Scheinman is involved in clinical research comparing results of non-standard placement of patch test allergens on the flanks and abdomen versus the standard placement on the upper back. She is also currently investigating whether contact allergens play a role in chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives).
Dr. Scheinman has been an invited speaker at national and international dermatology conferences, has been interviewed on TV and radio, and quoted in magazines in reference to various contact dermatitis topics. Her areas of interest are fragrance allergy and systemic contact dermatitis.
