The Center for Voice and Swallowing (617-636-2887) is a comprehensive care clinic for disorders of the larynx (voice box) related to voice and swallowing. Patients are seen in a joint fashion by both a Laryngologist and a dedicated Speeech and Language Pathologist to fully evaluate and offer treatments in the following areas including, but not limited to, changes in the speaking or singing voices and swallowing:
- Professional voice care (professional singers, actors, musicians, teachers, lecturers, etc.)
- Hoarseness (sudden or persistent)
- Chronic cough
- Acid or non-acid reflux disease
- Spasmodic dysphonia
- Vocal cord paralysis and paresis
- Laryngeal papillomatosis (recurrent respiratory papillomatosis or RRP)
- Early vocal cord cancers (focusing both on treatment and voice preservation)
- Vocal fatigue
- Breathing problems related to narrowing of the voice box

A care plan is generated at the first visit through our team approach and the patient does not require a seperate evaluation on a subsequent visit by a Speech and Language Pathologist to start treatment.
Treatment options range from conservative but appropriate voice therapy for both speaking and singing voice problems to cutting-edge endoscopic in-office procedures, operative microlaryngeal phonosurgery, and laryngeal framework surgery.
In-office procedures offered include:
