Research

Dr. Menon’s research examines the role of non-traditional risk factors in the development of cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease.  She utilizes data from the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease Study -a large cohort of patients with predominantly non-diabetic kidney disease.  Dr. Menon is also conducting an ancillary study to the Halt Progression of Polycystic Kidney Disease Trial to investigate the epidemiology and determinants of endothelial dysfunction in patients with polycystic kidney disease.  She was recently awarded funding for a pilot trial investigating effect of HDL-cholesterol raising with niacin on endothelial function in patients with chronic kidney disease. She has received funding from the NIDDK, Satellite Research Inc and the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation.
