Collection: |
Endocervix: Remove excess mucus from the endocervix with the large-tipped cleaning swab. Insert the small-tipped cleaning swab. Insert the small-tipped specimen swab provided in the collection kit into the endocervix and rotate the swab for 15-30 seconds. Tap the transport buffer to the bottom of the tube. Unscrew the cap of the tube, insert swab and break swab at the score line. Replace cap securely making sure swab fits into the cap. Screw on cap until clicks into place. Send at room temperature.
Urethra: Instruct patient not to urinate for 1 hour prior to sampling. Insert the small-tipped specimen swab 2-4 cm into the urethra and rotate the swab for 3 to 5 seconds.
Urine: Instruct patient not to urinate for 1 hour prior to collection. Collect the first 15-20 ml of voided in a sterile urine collection cup. Close cup securely. Send immediately via pneumatic tube or send on ice. |

Order each test separately but both assays, Chlamydia and GC (N. gonorrhoeae) DNA Probe tests; can be run on the sample.
This test not approved eyes or respiratory or other sources. Refer to culture for other sources. Call Send-out Lab x 7205 for culture collection kit or direct FA slide specimen for Chlamydia. |
