Pathology

Pathology is defined as the medical science concerned with the essential nature, causes and development of abnormal conditions as well as the structural and functional changes that result from the disease processes. "Pathology" is derived from the Greek word "pathos" meaning disease and "logos" meaning treatise of disease. The Department of Pathology at Tufts Medical Center is staffed by over 200 professionals which include pathologists, medical technologists, medical technicians, phlebotomists and administrative staff.
The mission of the Department of pathology is to provide accessible, high quality, low cost clinical testing and consultative services to physicians and their patients while maintaining a commitment to medical education and research.
The Department provides comprehensive diagnostic testing services in a wide variety of areas in anatomic and clinical pathology.
