The residency program consists of a core series of rotations. The didactic components of the residency program include a three-year curriculum of short formal courses held once a week during dedicated education time. In addition, a monthly Journal Club is held to review current literature. There are also Journal Clubs to review classic PM&R literature, Rehabilitation Resident and Attending Grand Rounds, Program Director Rounds and many other specialty conferences that keep residents abreast of the latest clinical and research advances and prepare the resident to present and share his/her research and clinical experience on a national level.

The Tufts University Health Sciences Library, adjacent to Tufts Medical Center, is part of the Arthur A. Sackler Center for Health Communication. It is a state-of-the-art electronic facility containing over 100,000 volumes, subscriptions to 1,300 Journals, on-line catalogs and access to computerized medical literature search services. Each of the rotation sites has a library and computerized literature search services as well.

Electrodiagnosis in Department of Neurology provides comprehensive development of measurable competencies and opportunities for each resident to have progressive responsibility diagnosing, assessing, and managing the conditions commonly encountered by the physiatrist performing EMG’s including:
- Assessment of neurological and musculoskeletal systems
- Involvement in over 200 electrodiagnostic consultations including performance and interpretation with report generation
- The resident will have history and physical examination experience pertinent for EMG
- Congenital or acquired myopathies, peripheral neuropathies, motor neuron and motor system diseases and other neuromuscular diseases.

General Rehabilitation Consultation
Direct total patient consultative care for acute level rehabilitation unit, management of medical and rehabilitation needs of hospitalized patients, evaluation, diagnosis of patients with disabilities, management of ongoing medical and rehabilitation issues, development of functional perspective and team management skills. The Boston VA Healthcare System in West Roxbury (WRVA) houses Boston's only regional Spinal Cord Injury Unit. It also has a general rehabilitation unit. Residents spend one rotation on the SCI service and one on general rehabilitation. It is located 6 miles from Tufts Medical Center.
Consultation Service
This rotation provides the opportunity for the residents to develop attitudes and psychomotor skills. The resident will be able to make sound clinical judgments and to design and monitor rehabilitation treatment programs. These treatment programs will be designed by the resident to minimize and prevent impairment while maximizing functional abilities, as well as to prevent injury, illness and disability. There will be inpatient rehabilitation consultations and outpatient clinic.
Polytrauma
An outpatient rotation consisting of Polytrauma outpatient clinic, EMG experience, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic, compensation and pension exams, presenting and writing case reports and Amputee clinic.
Spinal Cord Injury
There is direct total patient care, management of medical and rehabilitation needs of the hospitalized with comprehensive patient care. Residents conduct family and team meetings to discuss patient treatment plans and address psychosocial issues. Residents will see many spinal cord injured outpatients.

There are four rotations involved in comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care of stroke, oncology/movement disorders, stroke, head injury, amputee and EMG patients. Oncology/Movement Disorders Rehabilitation
