Center for Liver Disease

Tufts Medical Center’s Center for Liver Disease specializes in chronic autoimmune liver diseases. Our clinicians care for more patients with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (PBC), Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), and Autoimmune Chronic Hepatitis than almost any other medical center in the United States.
We do clinical research in these diseases and employ innovative medial treatments that are tailored to the individual patient. Because of the many patients that are followed with PSC, there is unusually superb expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP that is available to help referring physicians care for patients with complicated bile duct problems.
We have the third-oldest liver transplant program in the United States as well as some of the best survival rates in the country. Our transplant hepatologists and transplant surgeons are available to see any patient who may be a candidate for liver transplantation. We offer conventional cadaveric transplants and have been performing live donor liver transplants for more than four years.
Also, our physicians participate in multicenter pharmaceutical company-sponsored treatment trials of hepatitis B and C. Our hepatologists are available to see patients with any type of liver problem.
