Genetic screening is very important, but can be expensive. Massachusetts insurance companies often cover Jewish genetic screening. We frequently suggest sending your screening to a laboratory that pre-verifies your insurance coverage when they receive your sample. If covered, the test will proceed. If you are not covered, you will be contacted and can pay $350 by credit card for this portion of the test. We also send an enzyme screening test for Tay-Sachs. If this portion of the screening is not covered, which is rare, this is a smaller, additional fee.
You may want to call your insurance company before your visit to verify your coverage and deductibles.
