Many patients suffer from a range of spinal disorders during their life, most of which will not require surgical treatment. The Division of Spinal Surgery provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients suffering from arthritic, degenerative, traumatic, congenital, infectious, and neoplastic disorders of the spine and spinal cord.
Multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment of complex neurospinal disorders is provided by a multidisciplinary team, which includes neurosurgeons, neurologists, physiatrists, rheumatologists, anesthesiologists, and physiotherapists. Overall treatment goals are pain relief, prevention of paralysis, and restoration of functional capacity.
We use the latest surgical techniques, including microsurgical and minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques. Computer-assisted, image-guided, frameless stereotactic surgical systems are employed regularly to achieve new standards of accuracy during spinal decompression and instrumentation procedures. State-of-the-art spinal implants are utilized for spinal fusion and disc replacement surgery.
