The Traveler's Health Service in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical Center has a long tradition of providing expert pre-travel advice to international travelers including special needs travelers such as pregnant women, immunosuppressed individuals and those seeking international adoptions.
Patients receive extensive counseling regarding food, water and insect borne diseases, traveler’s diarrhea, malaria prevention, and altitude sickness. We offer a full range of vaccinations for children and adults and we are a designated yellow fever vaccination center. Written materials in a variety of languages are available.
We offer 3 formal sessions a week staffed by dedicated physicians, including the Traveler's Health Service Director, Laura Kogelman, MD and the Division Chief, David Snydman, MD, as well as two highly skilled registered nurses.
The clinic operates within the Infectious Disease Division, which has 10 infectious disease specialists who are available to evaluate returning travelers who are unwell.

Research
Some physicians from the Traveler’s Health Service participate in research projects in developing countries, conducting both laboratory and clinical investigations in the field of infectious disease in sites in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Some of our physicians spend several months or more working in collaboration with local scientists and clinicians. The Tufts Medical Center Traveler’s Health Service is also part of BATMN (Boston Area Travel Medicine Network), which is a consortium of Travel Medicine Clinics in Boston participating in a CDC sponsored study of issues affecting Travel Medicine.
