Physical trauma can affect anybody, anywhere, anytime. In the United States, it is currently the leading cause of death in the first four decades of life.
The Adult Trauma program provides care for the most severely injured adults (greater than 18 years old). Our team of world renowned surgeons works with the Emergency Department physicians, specialty surgeons, intensive care professionals, and other specialists at Tufts Medical Center to provide care from resuscitation to rehabilitation.
Tufts Medical Center is verified by the American College of Surgeons and designated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a Level II Adult Trauma Center. In addition, Tufts Medical Center – Floating Hospital for Children is verified and designated as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
In addition to direction patient care, the division maintains a comprehensive Trauma Registry to help improve care, assist research, and meet the obligations of state and federal reporting. An Injury Prevention Coordinator works with community groups to provide education to prevent the most common types of injuries.
