Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC)

RESOURCES
The Tufts Medical Center Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC-formerly CRC) has been in continuous operation since 1961, serving as a core institutional resource dedicated to promoting innovation and excellence across the entire spectrum of patient-oriented research.
The CTRC has provided a growing number of investigators with the resources and leadership necessary to conduct exceptional clinical research.
Study Coordinator
The Study Coordinator is available on a fee for service basis to assist with all aspects of a clinical trial – either conducted in the CTRC, or elsewhere in the Hospital. Services provided:
- Interviews and enrolls participants, administers research questionnaires
- Develops CRFs
- Collects, enters, and manages research data
- Works with the PI on all aspects of the studies, up to and including assistance with report writing
- Assists investigators in filling out CTRC applications and IRB forms
- Reviews all protocols approved for the CTRC
- Works with the Research Subject Advocate on regulatory issues
Research Administrator
The Research Administrator assists investigators and study coordinators with the submission of protocols, and answers questions relating to the submission process as well as the services the CTRC can provide.
Having a thorough understanding of the protocol process, the Research Administrator can assist with filling out forms, and submitting amendments as well as renewals.
Following IRB approval of protocols, the Research Administrator sends them out to CTRC staff for review and approval for resources.
The Center
The Center offers extensive support for inpatient and outpatient adult, pediatric, and neonatal subjects.

A full research laboratory, offering specimen processing and storage, ELISA-based and RIA-based assays, trace element testing by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, HPLC separation assays, and DNA analyses

Inpatient and Outpatient Resources on Pratt 6, offering per diem inpatient and outpatient units, outpatient rooms, waiting areas, metabolic kitchen, computer laboratory, Core Laboratory annex, specimen processing room, administrative office.
