Tufts MC True Blue Recipient: Jacques Pierre, Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Housekeeper,
Environmental Services Department
Nomination from Kelli O’Neil, RN, MICU Clinical Leader:
“Jacques takes great pride in his work. He treats the MICU as he would his own home and cleans as a perfectionist. He buffs the floors, cleans the ceiling lights and notices details in each room, such as missing cords to the shades, curtains that need changing and broken equipment. He independently seeks out the resources to solve these issues. He has been very proactive, taking initiative in obtaining the robot to help with infection prevention in each room. While he’s tending to each room, he talks with patients and their families, and lets the nursing staff know if they need something he’s unable to do for them.
“Recently, Transport was short on staff and Jacques’ supervisor asked him to help out. Jacques was happy to help, as he’s a true team player. He’s always willing to do what is needed at Tufts MC to provide care to patients. During his time in Transport, he could be seen talking with patients and families. His positive, caring nature helped to ease some of their anxiety about being in a hospital.
“Jacques provides the utmost quality in maintaining an exceptionally clean environment, adding to an exceptional patient experience. He provides great customer service and kindness in his interactions with patients, families and staff. His positive attitude is very contagious. In the MICU, we have had a number of patients and families comment on Jacques’ meticulous work in keeping the environment clean. In particular, a mother of one patient stated ‘I wish he could be here every day. He is so good at his job. You can tell he loves what he does.’”
