The purpose of this study is to learn more about the relationship between synovitis (swelling and inflammation of the joint lining) and pain in persons with symptomatic and non-symptomatic hand osteoarthritis by using ultrasonography (US).
Inclusion Criteria
- Participants who are at least 40 years old
- Participants with hand osteoarthritis
Exclusion Criteria
- History of hand trauma
- Prior surgery on either hand within the last 6 months
- Evidence or history of inflammatory arthritis, including but not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and uncontrolled or tophaceous gout
Study Requirements
There will be one study visit at which your hands will be examined and evaluated via ultrasound (US). You will be asked to complete questionnaires about your medical conditions and your hand pain.
