Run the Boston Marathon® for Tufts Medical Center

Tufts Medical Center is thrilled to participate in the 2019 Boston Marathon Official Charity Program for the sixth consecutive year! Funds raised through Team Tufts MC will support Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children’s mission of providing exceptional patient care to all in our community, teaching the next generation of clinicians and finding new treatments for the future.

We are excited to announce that we have 60 entries available on our team this year - an increase from 2018.

Over the past five years, we have raised nearly $1.7M to support the life-saving work that takes place here every day. This year, we look forward to building upon that success and aim to raise $450,000 this season, but we need your help to get there! Why will you run?

Team Tufts MC Terms and Conditions

2019 Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program

Please read the following carefully.

There is a non-refundable required application fee of $25.00 to apply to be a member of Team Tufts MC. This application fee is processed upon submission of the application. For accepted members of Team Tufts MC, your $25.00 application fee will be credited towards your team fee of $200.00. Team fees (see below) will be collected after the participant is informed of their acceptance and agrees to join the team. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older and fully comply with all rules and regulations of the Boston Athletic Association.

Fundraising Commitment: Each runner must commit to raising a minimum of $6,000, due no later than Friday, May 10, 2019, in order to join Team Tufts MC. In addition, each runner must raise a minimum of $3,000 by Friday, January 31, 2019 in order to be registered for the 2019 Boston Marathon. 

In the event that you do not meet the $3,000 fundraising minimum for Boston Marathon Registration by January 31, 2019, Tufts Medical Center will charge the balance owed to your credit card. No exceptions will be made.

In the event that you do not meet the $6,000 fundraising minimum by May 10, 2019, Tufts Medical Center will charge the balance owed to your credit card. No exceptions will be made.

Required Team Fees: Upon joining Team Tufts MC, each runner will pay a non-refundable, non-transferable $200 Team Fee by credit card, which is applied toward Tufts Medical Center training supplies and clothing. The $25 application fee will be directly credited toward his/her $200 Team Fee, bringing the cost to $175. This amount is due to Tufts Medical Center by Friday, December 7, 2018 and will secure the runner’s spot on the team.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel your participation with Team Tufts MC for the Boston Marathon®, waiving your responsibility for the $6,000 minimum, any time on or before Friday, December 21, 2018. To do so you must contact the Tufts Medical Center Development Office, in writing, on or before the cancellation date. After December 21, 2018, you are responsible for raising the $6,000 minimum, even if for any reason, including injury, you are unable to run in the 2019 Boston Marathon®.

Donations raised and received by our office will not be refunded and cannot be applied toward future participation, even if you leave Team Tufts MC before December 21, 2018.

Matching Gift Policy: Many companies match employee charitable contributions. We encourage you to check with your employer to see if your company has this program and ask donors if their employers match gifts. Many companies issue matching gift checks quarterly or semi-annually; if you plan to use matching gifts to reach your minimum, it is your responsibility to contact the matching company to ensure the check(s) will be issued and delivered before May 10, 2019. 

B.A.A. Registration: Tufts Medical Center will inform you of the details of the B.A.A. registration after your application is accepted. The B.A.A. charges a registration fee that does not count towards your fundraising commitment. This fee will be collected separately by the B.A.A. at a later date. The B.A.A. registration fee for the 2019 Boston Marathon® is $365. This fee is non-refundable, nontransferable, and may not be deferred to another year. You should not contact the B.A.A. directly to secure your number.
