Why did you go into cancer care?
Oncology offers wonderful opportunities to not only improve existing treatment options for patients, but also to directly enhance the lives of patients who have cancer. The biology of cancer is extremely diverse and challenging, however amazing advances are happening every day. Working toward new cancer therapy development is exciting, fast paced and rewarding. Patients who develop cancer are at a very frightening stage of their lives, however we have the tools and know-how to definitively make a positive impact on their lives.
What is the most rewarding thing about your job?
The relationships we develop as oncologists with our patients are very rewarding. I enjoy helping patients navigate a difficult stage of their lives. I also feel very gratified by contributing to development of new treatments which I know will help future patients.
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself.
In addition to my work at Tufts Medical Center, I also contribute significantly to developing new cancer treatments at a local small company.
