12/03/2014
Ronald Perrone, MD is a nephrologist at Tufts Medical Center.Dr. Ron Perrone assumed the role of Scientific Director of the Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) effective December 1, 2014.  A longstanding and highly-valued colleague to many on our campus, Dr. Perrone has a wide-ranging interest in translation of basic science discoveries to clinical medicine. Starting with a laboratory focused on epithelial transport, he now focuses on clinical research in polycystic kidney disease and the role of total kidney volume as a biomarker in response to clinical therapies. Presently, Dr. Perrone serves as the chair of the scientific advisory committee for the Mayo Translational PKD Center and as a member of the scientific advisory committee for the Baltimore PKD Center. He served as site PI and member of the steering committee for both the TEMPO 210 and 251 studies of tolvaptan in ADPKD and the NIDDK-sponsored HALT PKD studies. Dr. Perrone has extensive experience in clinical trials design and performance and oversight of research activities, and we look forward to experienced leadership as we build capacity to conduct multi-site clinical trials in Tufts CTRC.
