Fibromyalgia is a health issue that causes muscle pain and tiredness. People with fibromyalgia have tender points throughout their body. Most patients try various forms of treatment, from medications to physical therapy.
Chenchen Wang, MD, MSc, is the Director of the Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology at Tufts Medical Center. Wang is currently studying the effects of tai chi on easing fibromyalgia symptoms. Her recent studies have shown that tai chi may be more effective than aerobic exercise in controlling and reducing fibromyalgia pain.
