Tufts Medical Center’s Pulmonary Division has recently acquired new, state-of-the-art pulmonary function testing equipment, making our Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory one of the best-equipped labs in the region.
The lab also now has two full-body plethysmographs, one of which is larger for wheelchair accessibility. The new cardiopulmonary exercise equipment allows for a breath-by-breath evaluation of patients’ exercise capabilities, and has a portable bedside testing system that will interface with the lab’s database and provide physicians with a full report.
The Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory has also added a nutritional assessment system that can be used to evaluate the nutritional status of a ventilated or bariatric patient and an impulse oscillometry system (IOS) that can used in pediatric and asthma patients. The new systems will assist the lab in providing physicians with in-depth diagnostic data.
