Philanthropy works to help ensure healthy births at Tufts Medical Center

The Victor Outreach and Screening Program for Jewish Genetic Diseases has received several philanthropic gifts, totaling $110,000.

To help ensure the birth of healthy children, The Victor Program provides outreach and education in the Jewish community about the importance of preconception screening for Ashkenazi Jewish Genetic Diseases.

Directed by Dr. Jodi Hoffman of the Division of Clinical Genetics at Floating Hospital, The Victor Program has reached more than 3,000 people since its inception five years ago and screened more than 600 people, of whom 25% were identified as carriers. Recent donors to The Victor Program include two families who have been personally affected by devastating Ashkenazi Jewish Genetic Diseases and Genzyme Corporation.
