Kate Skeels, MSN, FNP-C is a nurse practitioner who is your link to all aspects of the Comprehensive Stroke Center. She works closely with the Director of the CSC to facilitate day-to-day clinical care, aiding patients and families in navigating the continuum of care, facilitating clinician and patient education, and guiding quality assurance and process improvement.

What does an average day look like for you?
No day is the same! My day will consist of meeting with patients and families to help them navigate their care and educate them about their hospital stay, working with staff on stroke education and guiding quality and process improvement plans.
Why did you choose to be involved with the stroke community?
I think that the neurological system is so interesting and I love working with patients and families.
What can a patient expect from you?
Patients and families can expect kind, compassionate care, support and guidance.
What is one piece of advice you give patient’s families as they are recovering from a stroke?
Be patient, recovery is a marathon not a sprint and I will be here to help you along the way.
