Summer in Boston doesn't have to be all about eating lobster rolls. One of the Clinical Bariatric Nutritionists, Kelsey Kalenderian, RDN, LDN, at the Weight and Wellness Center shares some healthy themed events to do around Boston this summer. 

Tufts MC Tackles Obesity

The ASMBS Foundation’s Walk from Obesity is the only national walkathon event that brings together those who are directly affected by obesity. Please join our team so we can tackle obesity together. Dropping in on free summer yoga sessions at Frog Pond (next to the carousel) on Boston Common is part of what makes Boston fun in the summer. Sessions are every Thursday from 6:00-7:15pm starting June 7th through August 30th. Participants should come prepared with their own mats, blocks, towels, and belts. 10K Race Through Back Bay

Presented by Brigham and Women’s Hospital. This year’s event will be held on Sunday, June 24th, and will have a maximum field size of 10,000 entrants. The race will begin at 8am and will start and finish on Charles Street. Registration fee is $65. For more information, please click on the following link:

Bike Tours around BostonBoston Bike Tours

Urban Adventours offers daily bike tours of Boston and the surrounding cities and towns such as Fenway and Cambridge. Join Briana Grieco as she leads you through a 75 minute gentle yoga class while the goats of Two Sisters Farm wander around in their natural environment. Participants should come prepared with water, hair tied up and no jewelry (the goats love to nibble on anything shiny or dangling) Cost for the event is only $30. The Boston Public Health Commission, the Boston Parks & Recreation Department, and Blue Cross Blue Shield MA are partnering to provide the Boston Parks Summer Fitness Series - FREE fitness programming in Boston Parks this summer. The Fitness Series will offer a variety of 30 classes starting June 4th through September 29th. Attend the 2018 launch event on Thursday, May 31st in Copley Square from 5:30-7:00pm.
