Remarkable care at Floating Hospital’s NICU

January 27, 2010 was undoubtedly the biggest day of the year for Tricia and Alex Smith’s family. Jacob, Campbell and Madison Smith, born at just 27 weeks’ gestation, and weighing between one and two pounds each, celebrated their first birthday.

They now top the scale at between 17 and 20 pounds each and are happy, healthy, smiling kids. The Smith family’s triple miracle was possible thanks to your support and the care the triplets received at Floating Hospital for Children.

Memory boxes filled with tiny diapers and blood pressure cuffs from their days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) hold distant memories of life just one year ago. What Tricia and Alex will never forget is the care and compassion they received from everyone they encountered at Floating Hospital for Children’s Division of Newborn Medicine.

The Smiths feel incredibly fortunate and thankful for their three beautiful children who are now beginning to walk and play together. To celebrate the triplets’ birthday, the Smiths asked friends and family to donate to the NICU at Floating Hospital in lieu of giving gifts.
