Harvard Pilgrim Health Care recognizes New England Quality Care Alliance and Tufts Medical Center as high-quality, low-cost health care providers

NEQCA and Tufts MC added to Harvard Pilgrim’s “Easy Access” Tier

BOSTON – Harvard Pilgrim Health Care has designated New England Quality Care Alliance (NEQCA) and Tufts Medical Center as “Easy Access” providers in its HMO product, Focus NetworkSM. This designation is further recognition that NEQCA and Tufts MC deliver the highest quality care, and can be relied upon to provide care that is efficient and low cost.

The Focus NetworkSM is a lower cost, HMO plan with access to a regionally defined network of providers. Easy Access providers are those that can provide in-network, medical services to members of the HMO. While the current Focus NetworkSM-Central MA product is primarily offered to employer groups and individuals in Worcester County, MA, the service area of the network will expand to make the product available in most Massachusetts counties. Tufts Medical Center and NEQCA will participate in this newly expanded service area when the Focus NetworkSM—MA launches on April 12, 2012.

As an Easy Access provider, Tufts MC and NEQCA will provide services to patients who are members of the Focus NetworkSM and refer them to other Easy Access providers for medically appropriate care, without prior authorization.

“We are pleased to be selected as an Easy Access provider for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care’s HMO subscribers,” said Dr. Jeff Lasker, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Medical Officer of NEQCA. “This is further recognition of NEQCA and Tufts Medical Center’s ability to efficiently provide our patients with high-quality care.”

Tufts Medical Center and NEQCA are committed to reducing health care costs throughout the state of Massachusetts. By actively participating in networks such Harvard Pilgrim’s Focus NetworkSM, NEQCA and Tufts Medical Center are helping to ensure that high-quality, lower-cost healthcare is available to patients throughout greater Boston and across the state.
