Part of WKLB partnership with Floating Hospital Top country music artists to perform and meet young patients
Boston – Hit country music station Country 102.5 WKLB today launched the "Country Music Healing Tour," a new program to bring leading country music artists to perform and meet with young patients at Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.
Country 102.5 has partnered with Floating Hospital for Children on a variety of initiatives, and the goal of this new program is to bring visiting music artists to the hospital to benefit patients. The program kicked off earlier today as the band Gloriana performed songs in the children’s playroom at Floating Hospital for Children. Band members also had the opportunity to meet with young patients before their performance later in the evening at Royale.
"Country 102.5 WKLB is thrilled to be a part of this wonderful opportunity to share the healing sounds of country music with pediatric patients and their families at Floating Hospital for Children in Boston," said Country 102.5 Program Director Mike Brophey. "Country artists have long been recognized as some of the most kind and giving performers in the music industry. It is our hope that this new initiative will bring a bit of joy and comfort to both the kids and their families as they confront health challenges while staying at the hospital."
WKLB’s Country Music Healing Tour program is the first of its kind in Boston. Similar programs have launched in select cities around the nation with great success.
"We couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful for our partnership with Country 102.5," said Dr. John Schreiber, Chief Administrative Officer and Pediatrician-in-Chief at Floating Hospital for Children. "From the continuing music series concerts that have raised more than $50,000 for Floating Hospital so far, to this exciting new program that will bring energy and smiles to our young patients in the hospital, Country 102.5 really embodies our mission to improve the lives of children and their families."
