Tufts Medical Center and its Floating Hospital for Children Honored as Most Admired Health Care Institution in Boston

BOSTON –Tufts Medical Center  has been named the “Most Admired Health Care Company/Institution in Boston” by Boston Business Journal (BBJ), as part of  its 2nd annual acknowledgment of the city’s “Most Admired Companies, CEOs and Brands.”  The winners were announced on February 23 at the Sheraton Boston Hotel during a special luncheon honoring the finalists.  With 69 percent of the final tally, Tufts MC/Floating Hospital garnered one of the largest, most definitive margins of all nine BBJ “Most Admired” categories.

“It is no secret that Boston is home to many of the very best hospitals in the world, making this award that much more special and meaningful,” said Eric Beyer, President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center. “We take great pride in offering top-notch quality care to our patients, training tomorrow’s doctors in the latest advances and conducting groundbreaking research. It is humbling that so many recognized this and hold us in such high regard in the community, city and region.”

“We have aggressively recruited new, highly-skilled medical professionals from the best institutions around the country, to offer our patients the very best health care experience,” said Deeb N. Salem, MD, Physician-in-Chief at Tufts Medical Center. “As a physician who has had the pleasure of working at Tufts Medical Center for many years, it is extremely gratifying to see our hard work and dedication acknowledged with this wonderful honor.”

"This is a terrific and well-deserved honor that only affirms what we have known since we began our affiliation nearly six years ago," said Normand E. Deschene, FACHE, President and CEO of Lowell General Hospital.  "We are proud to be a community partner of Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center because we know our referral patients are always in the best of hands. It is not the least bit surprising that our patients feel that way too."

Tufts Medical Center was one of three Boston hospitals chosen as a finalist for the “Most Admired Health Care Company/Institution” award. In the weeks leading up to the luncheon, the public was encouraged to vote on the BBJ website for their choice for the “Most Admired” winner in each category.  All of the finalists were profiled in a special supplement to the February 24 issue of Boston Business Journal.
