Tufts Medical Center, MetroWest Medical Center join forces to offer high quality surgical specialty services in Framingham

January 6, 2014 (BOSTON) –Tufts Medical Center and MetroWest Medical Center have teamed up to provide MetroWest-area patients with quick and easy access to some of the country’s top surgeons. The practice, Tufts Medical Center Surgical Specialists at MetroWest, will offer surgical consultations and perform surgical procedures, all in a community setting.

Located at MetroWest’s Medical Arts Building at 85 Lincoln Street in Framingham, the new practice is staffed by a team of Tufts Medical Center’s skilled surgeons, who are experts in the latest surgical technologies and techniques in colon and rectal surgery, surgical and urological oncology, urologic surgery and general surgery. The surgeons also work side-by-side with the outstanding anesthesiologists at MetroWest Medical Center, to provide patients with the best possible outcomes. The practice is open and accepting new patients for clinics.

“We are very pleased to offer a wide variety of expanded surgical services to patients in the MetroWest region,” said Gennaro Carpinito, MD, FACS, Urologist-in-Chief at Tufts Medical Center. “Our partnership with MetroWest Medical Center enables us to provide these services in the community and make advanced surgical care more convenient for our patients.”

In addition, Tufts Medical Center Surgical Specialists at MetroWest has hired Physicians’ Assistant Kevin Lai, who will be on site in Framingham full time.

“This is truly an all-star team of surgeons and to have them all in one location, here in the MetroWest community, is unprecedented,” said Barbara Doyle, MHA, RN, Chief Executive Officer of MetroWest Medical Center. “We understand that the process before and after surgery can be a stressful experience, which is why we are pleased to partner with Tufts Medical Center to ensure that many of our patients will be able to stay close to home where they are comfortable, instead of travelling into Boston for their surgical consults or procedures.”
