Adam Jay Geyer, MEd, MSW, LICSW is the Senior Clinical Social Worker and Director of Social Work Training for the CCSN. He is also a Clinical Instructor in Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine. He received his BA in Psychology from Gordon College, his MEd in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University, and his MSW from Boston University. Prior to joining the staff at the CCSN in 1996, Mr. Geyer worked as a psychotherapist and trauma specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center. He also has provided counseling in school and college settings, as well as in private practice.
At the CCSN, Mr. Geyer is involved in the training of graduate and undergraduate Social Work students, and provides supervision to Social Work staff within the department. He oversees the intake process for new patients in the clinic, and provides individual and family counseling for children and teens who are patients of the CCSN and their parents. Additionally his services involve case management and referral to community resources. Together with attending physicians, he co-leads the multidisciplinary team for the evaluation of school-age children (LEAP). As a Social Worker, his role involves providing consultation to staff regarding the psychosocial needs of families, community resources, and child protection issues.
Mr. Geyer’s clinical interests include: children’s mental health, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, ADHD and ASD, and fostering resiliency in families. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Asperger/Autism Network (AANE). He serves on the Advisory Board of Families for Depression Awareness. He is a certified CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) assessor.
