Daniel Richards is from London, UK. In 2012, he completed an undergraduate Master’s degree in Pharmacology at the University of Bristol. This included a 12-month placement in the heart failure drug discovery unit at GlaxoSmithKline in Philadelphia, USA. He then attended King’s College London, where he first gained a Master’s in Cardiovascular Science in 2013, followed by a PhD in the laboratory of Prof. Ajay Shah. His thesis discussed the role of NADPH-Oxidase 2 in the development of cardiac fibrosis. Daniel joined the Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center in 2017, working as a postdoctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Blanton.

The role of PKG and PKG-interacting proteins in blood pressure regulation and the development of heart failure. This project aims to understand the protective role played by PKG in heart failure, using conventional gene deletion and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated models, with a long-term goal of targeting and promoting its activation.
