Egilius L.H. Spierings, MD, PhD, who runs our program, has long been devoted to understanding and treating headache and face pain. Research has been a constant in his career, as he has conducted nearly 300 clinical trials since 1980. He has also focused on training future doctors and dentists, both in a clinical setting and in classrooms at the Harvard Medical School and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Spierings did his fellowship training in headache management at The Headache Research Foundation, an internationally known institution that he later headed from 1986 to 1990. After directing the Headache Section in the Brigham & Women's Hospital Neurology Department and spending 12 years in private practice, he joined the Tufts Craniofacial Pain Center in 2009. He continues to serve as a consulting neurologist to the Craniofacial Pain Center in addition to leading our program.
