Dr Ramadan received his Medical Degree from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1992. After completing his Residency in Internal Medicine in 1996 at State University of New York, Buffalo, he went on to finish a Geriatric Fellowship in 2002 at the Veterans Affairs Western New York Health System, State University of New York.
He became Board Certified in Internal Medicine (1996, 2006) and in Geriatrics (2002).
He has been faculty at State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, Teaching Hospitals from 1996-2009 where he Directed Acute In-patient Geriatric Services. At SUNY he taught students, residents and fellows and earned several teaching awards.
Dr. Ramadan was also faculty at Tufts Medical Center from 2009-2011, where he was the founder of Inpatient Geriatric Medicine.
Understanding that Geriatrics is a complex, challenging and very rewarding field, he chose to hone his interest in the physiology of aging and Geriatric Education which brought him to Massachusetts General Hospital in 2011 to work with fellows (our future Geriatricians) and Direct the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Program for 6 years.
He is currently interested in Geriatric Education, Clinical Research, and the improvement of health care delivery for frail older adults with comorbidities.
Dr. Ramadan developed the first comprehensive electronic resource on Human Aging, a comprehensive & detailed CD-ROM / web link on age-related changes in organ systems. He is currently working on converting the CD to text (book). He was also one of the first to report on the use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors in behavioral symptoms of dementia.
Dr. Ramadan was the recipient of the prestigious Geriatric Academic Career Award from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, 2003-2008.
