Dr. Terrin is Director of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design (BERD) Center in the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies at Tufts Medical Center (Tufts MC) and Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Terrin received her PhD in Mathematics from Boston University in 1990 and her BA from Sarah Lawrence College in 1976. She served on the faculty of the Department of Statistics at Carnegie Mellon University from 1989 to 1997, where she conducted research in applied and theoretical probability and statistical methodology, including work in time series analysis, stochastic process, fractional Brownian motion, and long memory processes, and taught probability and statistics for PhD, MS, and undergraduate students.

Since coming to Tufts MC in 1996, her methodological research has included longitudinal analysis, joint models for longitudinal and survival outcomes, meta-analysis, publication bias, predictive modeling, and model performance. Dr. Terrin collaborates with clinical and health services researchers in areas including pediatrics, nephrology, HIV-AIDS, pulmonary medicine, oncology, health related quality of life, and health behavior. She teaches biostatistics and meta-analysis and mentors clinical research fellows.

Dr. Terrin has received funding as Principal Investigator from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI). She is an elected member of the Society for Research Synthesis, serves on the editorial board of Research Synthesis Methods, and is Statistics Editor of Clinical Infectious Diseases. She has served on study section for the AHRQ and review panels for the NIH and is a member of the Scientific Review Committee of the Tufts Medical Center/Tufts University IRB.
