Congratulations to Dr. Kathleen Finn for being appointed the Louisa C. Endicott Professor of Medicine by the Tufts University Board of Trustees! Dr. Finn joined the Department of Medicine at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine this past June as Vice Chair of Education, Program Director for the Medicine Residency Program, and Associate Professor.

Thanks to Dr. Deb Blazey-Martin who has served as Division Chief of General Internal Medicine for the past 7 years. She will be leaving Tufts for a new position at UMass Medical Center. Congratulations to Dr. Mary Wallingford and her lab member, Vineetha Mathew (MS3 at TUSM). Dr. Wallingford attended the International Vascular Biology Meeting (IVBM) to present her lab's placenta vascular biology research studies, while Ms. Mathew received a Young Scholar travel award to attend the International Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HTT) Scientific Conference where she presented the lab’s work on HTT in pregnancy. This work was partially supported by a WiMS Seed mentorship award.
Congratulations to three Tufts MC doctors who were recognized for cardiac research. Dr. Kay Everett took first in the Jay Cohn New Investigator Competition at the Annual Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA) Conference in Washington, DC. Dr. Lija Swain received the Young Investigator Award for her study of cardiac metabolism and Dr. Xiaoying Qiao earned the Travel Award for the Acute Cardiac Unloading and Recovery (A-CURE) Meeting to be held in association with the forthcoming American Heart Association Scientific Sessions.
Congratulations to the new WiMS Committee Members and Chair-Elect , Aarti Grover, MD, Medical Director of the Center for Sleep Medicine, Program Director for the Sleep Medicine Fellowship and an Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. An active member of the Tufts WiMS Committee since 2019, Aarti has served as the Chair of the WiMS Wellness and Work-Life Balance Subcommittee. We are also pleased to announce that as of October 1st, the WiMS Chair will be Angie Mae Rodday, PhD, Associate Director of the Clinical and Translational Sciences Graduate Program, a Biostatistician within the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Research Design Center, and a faculty member within the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies. Finally, we are pleased to introduce a new WiMS Committee Member: Imrana Qawi, MD; Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care.

Congratulations to Caroline M. Hus, MD MS, newly minted faculty member in the Division of Nephrology and former research fellow, for receiving a Tufts Clinical and Translational Science Institute KL2 career development award. Her project "Predictors of Peritoneal Dialysis Technique Survival in the setting of PD-associated peritonitis" will use both quantitative and qualitative methods to assess the reasons why people switch from PD to HD.
