Tufts Medical Center is located in downtown Boston, next to Chinatown and the Theater District and within walking distance of Boston Common, Downtown Crossing, and many hotels and restaurants.

The main entrance to Tufts Medical Center for patients and visitors is located at 800 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02111. This entrance has connections to all other inpatient and outpatient buildings.

Emergency services for adult as well as pediatric patients are located at the North Building, 830 Washington Street. A number of our clinics are also located at 270 Tremont Street, Boston, MA. 

Valet parking

A Patient Valet Parking Service is available between the Medical Center's North and South Buildings, on Washington Street, Monday through Friday between 5:45 am and 6 pm. Call 617-636-8970 for additional information.

A shuttle service is available for patients with appointments in the Kidney and Blood Pressure Center at 35 Kneeland Street. For instructions on using this service, click here:  Nephrology Clinic Shuttle Service

Garage parking

Parking is available in the Medical Center's garage at 274 Tremont Street, next to the Citi Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre (formerly the Wang Center). All patients with an appointment will be accommodated. 

Digital signs show the number of open spaces and their locations, including spaces for those with disabilities. Feedback from patients and visitors indicates they are very pleased with how fast they can find a space in our parking garage.

By public transportation

The “Tufts Medical Center” Orange Line stop is located across from the main Tufts Medical Center entrance at 800 Washington Street. Other nearby MBTA stops are “Downtown Crossing” or "South Station" (Red Line) and “Boylston” (Green Line). We are also convenient to bus lines 9, 11, 43, 55 and the Silver Line. 

NOTE: Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 through September 18 2022, the entire Orange Line will shut down for repairs, and the Green Line will shut down between Union Square and Government Center from August 22, 2022 to September 18, 2022. More details here >

Public Transportation Guide

 

By cab + train

Tufts Medical Center is a 15- to- 20-minute cab ride from Logan Airport and within walking distance of South Station and the Back Bay train stations.

Subway maps, bus and commuter rail schedules are available at the Resource Office, Social Work Services on Farnsworth 1.

The Boston campuses of Tufts Medical Center are fully accessible to handicapped patients and visitors.

The Medical Center’s security officers patrol the hospital 24 hours a day. In addition, all entrances, except the Emergency Department, are locked after 8 p.m. For your safety, we ask that visitors please use the Emergency Department entrance, located at 830 Washington Street, for all after-hours arrivals.

All pediatric units are locked at all times. To enter, please ring the doorbell at the entrance of the unit and let staff know who you are and who you are visiting.
