Top trauma surgeons when you need the best

If your life is in the balance, you want the most skilled hands pulling you through. Our trauma surgeons routinely deal with everything from car accidents and falls to illnesses requiring immediate intervention. And we are also ready when major crises strike, with our trauma team helping treat the wounded after the Boston Marathon bombings. We can draw upon a range of highly skilled specialists — including orthopedics, vascular, neurology and facial surgeons — to deal with every situation. Our trauma surgeons are in-house, 24/7, along with an operating room and a suite of the latest life-saving equipment and technology.

A top-rated trauma center in Boston

You just don’t have to take our word for it, though. We are 1 of a small, elite group of trauma centers with a Level 1 Trauma Center designation by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the highest possible designation. During a rigorous evaluation by the ACS, our Tufts Medical Center trauma surgery team demonstrated the ability to superbly address all the needs of the critically injured or ill.

Our trauma surgeons are at the top of their fields, with superior ratings in resuscitation, evaluation, emergency surgical intervention and medical treatment. But it is far more than just a title. On average, patients treated at Level 1 Trauma Centers have a 25% higher survival rate. Trauma, in turn, is the leading cause of death among children and adults up to 44.

A full suite of services

Helping seriously injured or ill patients is a key part of our job, but it’s not the whole story. We also train the next generation of doctors, educate the community on injury prevention, and participate in cutting-edge research. A trauma registry helps us review past cases and develop best practices.
