Tufts MC names new Chief Operating Officer

Diana Richardson, new COO at Tufts MC Diana Richardson, a health care administrator whose experience includes leadership positions at Boston and Melrose hospitals, has been named Chief Operating Officer at Tufts Medical Center and the Tufts Medical Center. She starts in October. 

Richardson joins Tufts MC from UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, a 1,100-bed adult and pediatric academic medical center, where she served as Vice President of Operations. Previously, she worked as System Vice President of Facility, Support and Professional Services at MelroseWakefield Healthcare and led Support and Business Services at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

“Diana’s depth and breadth of experience, from expanding clinical services to master facilities planning, makes her a perfect fit for our organization at this time,” said Michael Apkon, MD, PhD, President and CEO of Tufts Medical Center. “She is known for driving improvement while fostering an environment of engagement and teamwork.”

Richardson is a graduate of Boston University and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Bentley University. She also served as Chair of the Healthcare and Biotech Council for the Greater Gainesville Chamber of Commerce.
