Functional Anorectal Pain
There are two forms of functional anorectal pain: levator ani syndrome and proctalgia fugax. In levator ani syndrome, pain is typically prolonged, frequent and dull. In proctalgia fugax, pain is typically brief, infrequent and sharp.
